iOS the Apple Smartphone OS Powering Your iPhone Software
Apple iPhones run on the best iOS currently available on the market. Steve Jobs and the Apple have raised the bar for all mobile operating systems which surely gives the fanboys much to brag about.
What makes the Apple smartphone OS superb is the seamless and intuitive user experience generated when their is tight intergration between the operating system and the smartphone itself. Some may argue Apple exerts too much control over their products but with this iOS the benefits far out weigh the cons.
App Store
The app store is definitely a selling point with apple phones. Currently there are over 350,000 apps and games available for your i Phone.
Simply put...
If you can think it, there is probably "an app for that."
We would be doing you an injustice if we said all was well with the Apple app store process. There have been complaints that the company is too restrictive and secretive about the approval process for apps. Also, the debacle about publishers not being allowed to have app sales pages for subscriptions outside of the official app store.
Ok, that is our rant about the Apple iPhone, now onto more great features which make this iOS the best yet.
iOS Features in Abundance
Now this may seem very basic but the greatest feature of the iOS is the ability to use your fingers for everying with the Multi-Touch interface.
Need to swipe, pinch, or drag... simply use your fingers. Yes, there is the ability to pinch to decrease the size of the window your are currently browsing. Once accustomed to using this functionality it is going to be very hard to go back to any other touchscreen smartphone.
Talking about difficulties of going back...
The Retina Display is absolutely out of this world. We won't bore you with the pixel ratio and all that good stuff. You just know you're looking at the cleanest and sharpest display ever. Absolutely, nothing can complete with the newest Apple phones in this regard.
Rarely do you hear the word free mentioned with Apple.
But there are free iOS updates. Just go through iTunes and you will be all set to download the latest and greatest from Cupertino.
iTunes is central to Apple and now you can share over the air. How about them apples. Ok, couldn't resist that one. But now you can play whatever is in your iTunes library on any Apple device as long as there's a Wi-Fi connection available.
FaceTime Might be Over-Hyped
Don't get us wrong we like the concept of being able to have a face-to-face chat while talking on the phone but there are some sore points. For one, both parties must be on a Wi-Fi connection. You're not always going to have access to Wi-Fi so this is kinda disappointing. But if credit is give for a gallant attempt, the Apple iOS deserves it for this in itself.
Multitasking Without Losing Battery Power
We hate a world where the smartphone user has one of two options:
- Carry their cellphone charger at all times
- Minimize use of their cellphone to conserve power
It is well into the 21st Century and any smartphone user should never have to limited to those two options. Apple Inc. recognizes this and they really have the user at heart with how multitasking works.
You can run your third party apps and switch between them without slowing down the main app or draining battery power. Believe us when we say this is a huge advantage of the Apple in comparison to other mobile operating systems.
Not to get too personal but here's a scenario which we have done time and time again ourselves...
When traveling and not using and iPhone the standard routine is to conserve, conserve at all times and be aware of the nearest outlet so as not to have a dead smartphone just when we need to make a phone call for final pick up logistics.
Contrast this to using an iPhone...
There are no worries whatsoever. We spend our time browsing online, checking emails, and then using the included ipod to listen to music to our heart's content. Finally, it is time to make those pick up arrangements and we simply place the call knowing we still have a lot of battery power left. Never once even thinking about charging or conserving power.
Now that is the power you can only find in the Apple iOS.
Even Business Loves This Smartphone OS
Once upon a time the i Phone was thought merely as a toyish smartphone that had no business in the corporate world. Funny how the times have changed.
The iOS for all the security hounds out there encrypts data at three points:
- in transmission
- while on the smartphone
- and when backed up to iTunes.
Being productive on the go is essential these days and there are features to allow you to get the most out of your time. If you're obsessed with email there is deliver over-the-air push email which conveniently works with Microsoft Exchange and many other email providers.
Ok one neat feature is remote accessiblity to your i Phone and the ability to Find My iPhone which allows you to locate your phone on a map, lock its screen and delete all of the data if needed.
An International Smartphone OS
This mobile operating system works with over 30 languages and you can easily switch between them as needed. Please note, the keyboard also will change to best suit the needs of the language you are currently using. If you're one who likes to use Voice Control the iOS understands 24 languages.
