Apparently, the Research In Motion brand has not been tarnished in Indonesia by any means. In reality it is highly popular and when you walk down the streets of Jakarta the Blackberry is the device that basically everyone has, Crackberries are the norm and not the exception.
Well, due to the loyalty of Indonesians RIM decided they would launch their new Blackberry Bold 9790 at the Pacific Place shopping mall and to sweeten the deal the first 1,000 people in attendance would receive 50 percent off the purchase price of the newly released Blackberry Bold 9790.
Injuries and riots took place when rumors started to circle that the coveted RIM devices had already sold out. On this news people began to storm the barriers hoping to get one of the smartphones for themselves which led to injuries. There were tens of people injured, where some individuals lost consciousness at the scene.
Ambulances had to be dispatched to the scene along with 200 police officers to restore order. As a result of the chaos that took place Research In Motion had to cancel the launch event for the Blackberry Bold 9790.
